Revit | Essentials - Introduction to Revit for Reviewers and Light Users is an insightful 2 sessions x 3.5 hours (Total: 7 Hours) virtual course, designed for managers, senior designers, builders, estimators, and others who need to review and analyse Revit models without creating documentation. Guided by a Certified Autodesk Instructor, this course is tailored for professionals across the Built Environment industry, providing essential skills to effectively navigate and extract insights from Revit models for project analysis and review.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to navigate the Revit interface and efficiently interact with model elements across architectural, structural, and MEP designs. You will explore key features such as loading families, placing components, and using various modify tools to adjust model elements with precision. As the course progresses, you will practise creating and customising views, learning how to apply text and dimensions to improve clarity in your model presentations. You will also gain hands-on experience in setting up detailed schedules for review purposes, ensuring that project data is accurately extracted and presented. In addition, the course will cover how to customise sheets and prepare models for printing, equipping you with the skills to produce clear and concise project documentation. You will also explore exporting Revit models to platforms like Navisworks and AutoCAD, enabling better coordination and collaboration with project teams. Furthermore, you will learn how to link Revit files and address common warnings, applying troubleshooting techniques to minimise disruptions and ensure efficient workflows during model review.
Upon completing the course, you will be able to confidently navigate and interact with Revit models, review project data, and provide valuable feedback to your team. You will be equipped with essential skills that enable effective collaboration, improving overall project coordination and decision-making.
Prerequisites
This course is delivered in multiple sessions, and participants are encouraged to attend them in the recommended order to support consistent learning.
To join the course, participants will need basic computer skills and a solid understanding of architectural or construction project workflows. No prior experience with Revit is required, but exploring the user interface beforehand is recommended.
Learning Outcomes
During this session, you will explore the following topics:
- Module 1 – Opening Files | Interface | Navigation | Instance & Type Properties: Learn how to open and save Revit project files and navigate the interface with ease. You will explore project navigation tools and practise working with instance and type properties. This module includes exercises for changing object properties across architecture, structure, and MEP, ensuring that you can review and adjust model elements efficiently.
- Module 2 – Loading Families | Modify Tools | Creating Views | Text and Dimensions: Discover how to load families, place components, and use modify tools to adjust model elements. You will practise modifying architectural, structural, and MEP components using these tools, and learn how to create and customise views for project review. Additionally, this module covers how to use text and dimensions to enhance the clarity of your model presentations.

System Requirements
Participants joining this course virtually will need:
- Revit '22 or higher, or Revit LT '22 or higher installed on their computer (required). We strongly recommend that participants join using the most recent version of the software. Please contact us if you need to purchase a software licence.
- The latest Zoom version installed on their computer (required).
- A stable internet connection with a minimum download speed of 10 Mbps (required).
- A secondary screen to follow instructions shared by the course instructor during training, along with a mouse for easy software navigation (recommended).
- A headset to ensure clear communication with the instructor, and preferably a microphone and webcam for interactive conversations (recommended).
