Inventor Professional | Intermediate - Tube and Pipe Design
A private course, delivered virtually or in person, led by an Autodesk Certified Instructor, focusing on intermediate skills in tube and pipe design workflows using Inventor Professional for product design projects.
Description
Inventor Professional | Intermediate - Tube and Pipe Design is an insightful two-day private course, which can be delivered either virtually or in person, designed for professionals who need to incorporate tubing, piping, and flexible hose designs into their digital prototypes. Led by a Certified Autodesk Instructor, this course is tailored for users seeking to streamline the design of routed elements using Inventor's specific Tube and Pipe tools.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to set up tube and pipe routes and runs, manage initial fittings, and sketch both rigid and flexible routes, providing a solid foundation in using Inventor's Tube and Pipe tools. You will start by familiarising yourself with the Tube and Pipe environment, exploring the workflows for placing and managing fittings, and understanding the essential configurations for successful design management. As the course progresses, you will delve into creating complex routes, such as self-draining pipe runs, and gain the skills to edit and adapt existing routes to meet evolving project requirements. Additionally, you will learn how to customise and manage content libraries, publish fittings to the Content Center, and develop custom tube and pipe styles for your projects. The course also covers critical aspects of documenting tube and pipe designs, guiding you through the creation of detailed 2D drawings, generating accurate parts lists, and exporting 3D design data for smooth integration with other project components. By practising these workflows, you will enhance your ability to create adaptable, efficient designs that integrate effectively into your broader digital prototypes.
By the end of the course, you will have developed the essential skills to confidently create and manage tube and pipe designs in Inventor Professional. You will be able to customise your fittings and content libraries, manage project standards, and document your designs efficiently. These skills will help you integrate tubing and piping into your digital prototypes, enhancing the overall efficiency and accuracy of your designs.
Learning Outcomes
During this course, you will explore the following topics:
- Module 1 – Introduction | Routes & Runs Setup: Explore the basics of the Tube and Pipe environment in Inventor. In this module, you will learn how to navigate the interface and understand its core components. You will also discover how to set up routes and runs, activate a tube and pipe style, and begin working with the basic configurations needed to manage your designs effectively.
- Module 2 – Placing Initial Fittings | Creating Rigid Routes: Discover how to place initial fittings in your tube and pipe design. This module introduces the process of placing and managing fittings, ensuring that your design adheres to project specifications. You will then move on to creating simple rigid routes, learning how to position pipes and create basic routing configurations for your designs.
- Module 3 – Sketching Rigid Routes | Pipe and Tube Creation: Delve into sketching more complex rigid routes in this module. You will learn how to create rigid pipe routes, sketch tube routes, and develop self-draining pipe runs. These skills will enable you to build effective and efficient designs that meet the functional requirements of your projects.
- Module 4 – Editing Rigid Routes | Modifying Pipe and Tube Designs: Learn how to edit and modify rigid routes within your designs. This module covers the tools and techniques needed to edit both rigid pipe and tube routes, giving you the flexibility to adjust your designs as required. You will gain confidence in refining your routes to ensure optimal performance and compliance with design standards.
- Module 5 – Managing Libraries | Customising Content: Explore the management of content libraries in Inventor. This module will guide you through creating and customising libraries for tube and pipe components. You will learn how to create a custom library that supports your specific design requirements, helping to streamline your workflows.
- Module 6 – Creating Library Content | Authoring and Publishing Fittings: Explore how to author and publish custom content for tube and pipe designs. In this module, you will learn how to author a fitting, publish it to the Content Center, and place library fittings into your designs. These skills will enable you to build a robust, customisable library that enhances your design capabilities.
- Module 7 – Managing Library Content | Creating Custom Styles: Understand the process of managing library content and creating tube and pipe styles. You will learn how to add a column to a part family, creating custom styles for tube and pipe components. This module also covers creating self-draining styles, allowing you to tailor your designs to specific project needs.
- Module 8 – Documenting Assemblies | Design Data Export: This module covers the process of documenting your tube and pipe assemblies. You will learn how to represent tube and pipe designs through model states and generate detailed 2D drawings. You will also explore how to document routes and runs, and export your design data for collaboration and manufacturing purposes.
