Inventor Professional | Intermediate - Advanced Assembly Modelling
A private course, delivered virtually or in person, led by an Autodesk Certified Instructor, focusing on intermediate skills in Inventor Professional for assembly modelling in product design projects.
Description
Inventor Professional | Intermediate – Advanced Assembly Modelling is a comprehensive two-day private course, which can be delivered either virtually or in person, designed for proficient Inventor users seeking to refine their skills in complex assembly workflows. Led by a Certified Autodesk Instructor, this course delves into advanced assembly techniques and design strategies, equipping you with the tools to efficiently manage large, sophisticated models.
Throughout the course, you will explore a wide range of advanced Inventor tools, focusing on top-down design principles, multibody part creation, and managing positional representations to enhance your assembly workflows. You will begin by reviewing essential assembly techniques and constraints, building a solid foundation before progressing to more intricate workflows such as model states and adaptive components. As you advance, you will dive deeper into the use of iMates and iAssemblies, learning how to streamline assembly creation and efficiently manage complex assembly configurations. Additionally, you will explore more specialised techniques such as derived assemblies and shrink-wrapping to simplify large models and improve performance in your designs. The course also introduces design accelerators to automate repetitive tasks, enhancing your productivity and allowing you to focus on more complex design challenges. By integrating these powerful tools, you will learn how to optimise your assembly processes, enabling faster, more efficient workflows for larger assemblies while maintaining design flexibility and accuracy.
Upon completing the course, you will have a strong understanding of Inventor’s advanced assembly features, giving you the confidence to tackle more complex engineering challenges. You will be well prepared to manage intricate assemblies, optimise your design processes, and increase productivity on a variety of mechanical design projects.
Learning Outcomes
During this course, you will explore the following topics:
- Module 1 – Assembly Tools | Top-Down Designs: Learn how to apply assembly constraints effectively and explore top-down design principles to create more efficient workflows. You will discover how to implement motion and transitional constraints, ensuring that components interact as intended within an assembly. This module also introduces the top-down design process and tools, helping you create well-structured and manageable assemblies that can adapt to changes throughout the design process.
- Module 2 – Multibody Parts | Layout Designs: Discover how to create multibody parts and assign features to individual solid bodies, allowing you to control each part's design and placement within assemblies. You will also learn how to manipulate solid bodies, apply necessary modifications, and manage their properties effectively. This module highlights key techniques for optimising your designs for downstream interactions and flexibility.
- Module 3 – Adaptive Links | Representations: Understand how to create derived components and manage associative links to ensure that your assemblies update automatically when related components change. You will explore how to create and modify positional representations, allowing for greater flexibility in design and the ability to simulate multiple assembly positions within a single model.
- Module 4 – Model States | Shrink-Wrapping: Learn how to manage model variations within your assemblies to improve performance when working with large and complex designs. You will explore creation and management of simplified models, allowing you to focus on key components while minimising processing time. This module also covers shrink-wrapping techniques to reduce the complexity of models for faster processing.
- Module 5 – iMates | iAssemblies: Practice creating and using iMates to streamline the process of constraining components within an assembly. You will learn how to create basic and multi-level iAssemblies, allowing for more efficient assembly creation and reuse of parts. This module also covers how to place and edit iAssemblies within your designs, giving you greater flexibility and control.
- Module 6 – Design Accelerators | Inventor Studio: Explore how to use design accelerators, generators, and calculators to simplify the creation of standard components and assemblies. In this module, you will also explore Inventor Studio and learn how to render high-quality images and animations of your assemblies. Additionally, you will discover how to create video presentations, helping you showcase your designs in a professional format.
- Module 7 – File Management | Duplication Tools: Learn how to manage design files effectively using tools like Pack and Go, ensuring that all necessary files are correctly duplicated when moving or archiving projects. In this module, you will also practice applying duplication techniques using pattern and mirror tools to enhance efficiency and consistency in your assemblies.
- Module 8 – Frame Generator | Weldments: Discover how to use the frame generator for creating structural designs quickly by selecting predefined profiles. This module also covers creating structural and cosmetic welds, such as fillet and groove welds, allowing you to add realistic fabrication elements to your assemblies and improve design documentation with weld bead symbols.
