Revit Architecture | Intermediate - Family Creation for Landscaping
A private course, delivered virtually or in person, led by an Autodesk Certified Instructor, for proficient Revit users looking to enhance their skills in creating custom families for landscaping projects.
Description
Revit Architecture | Intermediate - Family Creation for Landscaping is an intensive one-day private course, available both virtually and in person. This course is designed for landscape architecture professionals looking to enhance their skills in creating custom families in Revit. Led by a Certified Autodesk Instructor, this course focuses on the techniques required to build efficient landscape families, helping you streamline your design process across various projects.
Throughout the course, you will explore essential concepts and techniques for creating robust parametric families within the Family Editor environment. Beginning with foundational topics such as family theory, the Family Editor interface, and parameter management, you will learn how to set up parameters and formulas to control family behaviour, geometry, and flexibility. The course introduces practical methods for creating planting families that include custom parameter data such as height, spread, and species, while also demonstrating how to incorporate external data sources such as DWG files. You will develop skills for creating face-based hosted families with nested components, utilising array parameters to enhance adaptability, and managing materials and visibility settings to meet diverse project requirements. Additionally, the course covers the creation of a parametric bench seat family, equipping you with techniques to use selectors for managing nested leg options and ensuring efficient, reusable designs. Each module builds practical skills, enabling you to create flexible components that integrate effectively into various landscape projects.
Upon completing the course, you will have a solid understanding of how to create and manage custom families in Revit. You will gain the confidence to design elements with precision and control, ensuring they are adaptable, efficient, and tailored to meet the unique requirements of diverse project scenarios.
Learning Outcomes
During this course, you will explore the following topics:
- Module 1 – Family Theory | Family Editor UI | Parameters | Formulas: Start by exploring family theory and the Family Editor interface. You will learn how to set up and manage parameters and formulas, giving you full control over the behaviour and flexibility of families in the project environment. This module provides the foundation for creating custom components with precision, ensuring that your designs can adapt efficiently to various project requirements.
- Module 2 – Planting Family Creation: Learn how to develop a flexible planting family that incorporate custom parameter data, including attributes such as height, spread, and species. This module will guide you through advanced techniques for defining key parameters and controlling the appearance and behaviour of planting families within the project environment. You will acquire the essential skills needed to create custom planting families, leveraging DWG files to enhance the accuracy and functionality of your landscape designs.
- Module 3 – Tactile Family Creation: Discover how to create face-based hosted parametric families with nested components and array parameters to significantly enhance flexibility and control in your designs. This module will provide you with in-depth knowledge on effectively managing materials and parameters, enabling you to precisely control both the appearance and behaviour of your family's geometry. You will also explore how to configure visibility settings, ensuring your families can adapt to a variety of project scenarios and meet specific design requirements.
- Module 4 – Outdoor Bench Seat Family Creation: Learn how to create a parametric bench seat family with a family selector parameter, enabling you to swap between nested leg options to suit specific design needs. This module will guide you through the process of managing both the visibility and geometry of various components, ensuring that your bench seat families are not only adaptable but also efficient for a wide range of landscape project requirements.
