Revit | Essentials - Introduction to Revit for Reviewers and Light Users
A private course, delivered virtually or in person, led by an Autodesk Certified Instructor, covering the essentials of using Revit for reviewing architectural and design projects.
Description
Revit | Essentials - Introduction to Revit for Reviewers and Light Users is an insightful one-day private course, designed for managers, senior designers, builders, estimators, and others who need to review and analyse Revit models without creating documentation. Led by a Certified Autodesk Instructor, this course can be delivered either virtually or in person, and is tailored for professionals across the Built Environment industry, providing essential skills to effectively navigate and extract insights from Revit models for project analysis and review.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to navigate the Revit interface and efficiently interact with model elements across architectural, structural, and MEP designs. You will explore key features such as loading families, placing components, and using various modify tools to adjust model elements with precision. As the course progresses, you will practise creating and customising views, learning how to apply text and dimensions to improve clarity in your model presentations. You will also gain hands-on experience in setting up detailed schedules for review purposes, ensuring that project data is accurately extracted and presented. In addition, the course will cover how to customise sheets and prepare models for printing, equipping you with the skills to produce clear and concise project documentation. You will also explore exporting Revit models to platforms like Navisworks and AutoCAD, enabling better coordination and collaboration with project teams. Furthermore, you will learn how to link Revit files and address common warnings, applying troubleshooting techniques to minimise disruptions and ensure efficient workflows during model review.
Upon completing the course, you will be able to confidently navigate and interact with Revit models, review project data, and provide valuable feedback to your team. You will be equipped with essential skills that enable effective collaboration, improving overall project coordination and decision-making.
Learning Outcomes
During this course, you will explore the following topics:
- Module 1 – Opening Files | Interface | Navigation | Instance & Type Properties: Learn how to open and save Revit project files and navigate the interface with ease. You will explore project navigation tools and practise working with instance and type properties. This module includes exercises for changing object properties across architecture, structure, and MEP, ensuring that you can review and adjust model elements efficiently.
- Module 2 – Loading Families | Modify Tools | Creating Views | Text and Dimensions: Discover how to load families, place components, and use modify tools to adjust model elements. You will practise modifying architectural, structural, and MEP components using these tools, and learn how to create and customise views for project review. Additionally, this module covers how to use text and dimensions to enhance the clarity of your model presentations.
- Module 3 – Creating Schedules | Sheets | Printing | Exporting to Navisworks: Learn how to create detailed schedules for architectural and MEP elements, ensuring that key project data is accurately extracted, organised and presented. You will also set up and customise sheets, prepare models for printing, and explore how to export your Revit models to Navisworks for additional project coordination and analysis.
- Module 4 – Exporting to AutoCAD | Linking Revit Files | Common Warnings: Explore how to export Revit models to AutoCAD and link Revit files to improve project collaboration. You will also learn how to address and resolve common warning messages that arise during the review process, ensuring smoother project workflows, minimising delays, and facilitating more efficient model analysis and project coordination.
