Revit Architecture | Essentials - Buildings PLUS

A private course, delivered virtually or in person, led by an Autodesk Certified Instructor, covering the fundamental knowledge required to use Revit Architecture for building design projects.

Description

Revit Architecture | Essentials – Buildings PLUS is a comprehensive two-day private course, which can be delivered either virtually or in person, designed for beginners looking to establish a strong foundation in Revit for architectural workflows. Led by a Certified Autodesk Instructor, this course covers the essential topics required to work efficiently with Revit, providing comprehensive knowledge of modelling, drafting, and project management concepts that are fundamental for architectural design.

During this course, you will explore Revit’s interface and tools, gaining a solid understanding of the essential concepts for architectural project workflows. You will learn how to create and manage key design elements such as walls, floors, and roofs, while developing detailed documentation required for successful project delivery. As you progress, you will practise setting up a structured project foundation by establishing levels and grids, ensuring precise alignment of all components. The course will guide you through creating architectural views such as plans, sections, and elevations, which are essential for communicating design intent effectively. You will also refine your use of annotation tools, including tags, rooms, and dimensions, to ensure that all project details are properly documented. Furthermore, you will explore how to incorporate additional elements such stairs, railings, and openings, which are critical for both functionality and compliance. By developing your skills in creating detailed drawings, legends, and schedules, you will improve your project management and documentation, ensuring accuracy in material quantities and other important design data. Finally, you will learn how to organise your work into sheets and create camera views to present your projects professionally, making them ready for client approval or construction handover.

Upon completing the course, you will have developed a thorough understanding of how to use Revit to model and document architectural projects. You will be well-positioned to tackle more advanced design tasks, building on your foundational skills to create increasingly complex architectural designs.

Learning Outcomes

During this course, you will explore the following topics:

  • Module 1 – Introduction | Starting a Project | Levels | Grids: Learn how to set up a Revit project, starting with accurate levels and grids. Practise using Revit’s interface and project settings to establish a structured foundation, ensuring precise alignment of all project components. Understanding how to properly set up levels and grids is crucial for maintaining accuracy and consistency in your designs, leading to smoother project workflows.
  • Module 2 – Walls | Doors | Windows: Learn how to create and modify walls, doors, and windows. Practise adjusting their parameters to fit specific design needs, ensuring that architectural elements are integrated smoothly into your projects. This module helps you gain control over these essential building components, making it easier to design spaces that meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.
  • Module 3 – Plans | Sections | Elevations: Learn how to generate detailed plans, sections, and elevations from your Revit models. Understand how these views are interconnected and practise making adjustments to ensure accurate project documentation. These skills are key to producing clear and professional drawings that communicate your design intent effectively to stakeholders.
  • Module 4 – Floors | Ceilings | Roofs: Practise designing and refining floors, ceilings, and roofs with attention to material properties and construction details. Explore how these structural elements interact with each other and learn to adjust them to fit within the overall design. Gaining proficiency in modelling these components ensures that your architectural models accurately represent real-world construction practices.
  • Module 5 – Stairs | Railings | Openings | Components: Learn how to incorporate key elements like stairs, railings, and openings into your projects. Practise placing and modifying these components to ensure they meet design and safety standards. Understanding how to add and modify these essential architectural components is vital for creating functional, safe, and compliant spaces.
  • Module 6 – Tags | Rooms | Dimensions: Understand how to apply tags, rooms, and dimensions to organise and structure your design. Learn how these tools enhance project documentation and improve communication with stakeholders. Gaining confidence in the use of tags, rooms, and dimensions enables efficient and accurate management of design details, making it easier to keep your project on track as it evolves.
  • Module 7 – Detailing | Legends | Schedules: Learn how to create detailed drawings, legends, and schedules to support your project documentation. Practise using these tools to manage key project information, ensuring that all architectural details are clearly communicated. This module also covers how to organise your schedules for material take-offs, quantities, and other critical project data, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in documentation.
  • Module 8 – Sheets | Camera Views: Learn how to organise and present your designs on sheets, ensuring that they are fully prepared for construction documentation. Practise working with camera views to create compelling visual representations of your projects, highlighting key design elements. Topics covered in this module ensure that your projects are presented in a professional manner, making them ready for client approval or construction handover.
